Name: CHLORPHENIRAMINE (klor-fen-EER-a-meen),
PHENYLEPHRINE (fen-ill-EF-rin), and
METHSCOPOLAMINE (meth-skoe-POL-a-meen)
Common Dura-Vent uses
This
medicine is an antihistamine and decongestant
combination used to relieve congestion,
sneezing, and watery eyes due to colds, flu, or
hay fever. It may also be used for other
conditions as determined by your doctor.
Before using Dura-Vent
Some
medicines or medical conditions may interact
with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR
PHARMACIST of all prescription and
over-the-counter medicine that you are taking.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking
furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI).
ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION
may be needed if you are taking bromocriptine,
guanadrel, guanethidine, or tricyclic
antidepressants. Inform your doctor of any other
medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or
breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT
RECOMMENDED if you have a history of megacolon.
Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have
any questions or concerns about taking this
medicine.
Dura-Vent Directions
FOLLOW
THE DIRECTIONS for using this medicine provided
by your doctor or on the package. DO NOT EXCEED
the recommended dose. SWALLOW WHOLE. Do not
crush or chew before swallowing. This medicine
may be broken in half and swallowed without
crushing or chewing. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE TAKEN
WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. STORE THIS
MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed
container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS
A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are using it
regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is
almost time for your next dose, skip the missed
dose and go back to your regular dosing
schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Dura-Vent Cautions
DO NOT
TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic
reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient
in this product. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE
DIZZINESS OR DROWSINESS. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE
MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE
DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this
medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other
medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your
ability to drive or to perform other potentially
dangerous tasks. THIS MEDICINE WILL ADD TO THE
EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants. Ask
your pharmacist if you have questions about
which medicines are depressants. BEFORE YOU
BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINES, either
prescription or over-the-counter, check with
your doctor or pharmacist. This includes other
cough-cold products. DO NOT TAKE DIET OR
APPETITE CONTROL MEDICINES while you are taking
this medicine without checking with your doctor.
IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE SLEEPING, ask your
pharmacist or doctor about the best time of day
to take this medicine. CAUTION IS ADVISED when
using this medicine in the elderly because they
may be more sensitive to the effects of this
medicine. Contact your doctor or pharmacist for
more information. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON
BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the
benefits and risks of using this medicine during
pregnancy. SOME OF THE INGREDIENTS IN THIS
MEDICINE are excreted in breast milk. DO NOT
BREAST-FEED while using this medicine.
Possible side effects of Dura-Vent
SIDE
EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment,
include nervousness, dizziness, trouble sleeping
or drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth,
nausea, constipation, or headache. If they
continue or are bothersome, check with your
doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE if you experience vomiting. If you
notice other effects not listed above, contact
your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.

or prevent a medicine from doing its job. Use

If you take too much Dura-Vent
If
overdose is suspected, contact your local poison
control center or emergency room immediately.
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea,
vomiting, numbness or tingling in arms or legs,
dry mouth, large pupils, seizures, cold or hot
skin, irregular heartbeat, slowed breathing,
drowsiness, and deep sleep or loss of
consciousness.
Additional Dura-Vent information
If your
symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if you
develop a high fever or persistent headache,
check with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE THIS
MEDICINE with others for whom it was not
prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other
health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the
reach of children and pets.
