Chemical Name: KENALOG TRIAMCINOLONE (trye-am-SIN-oh-lone)
Common Kenalog uses
This medicine is a corticosteroid used to
reduce itching, redness, and swelling
associated with many skin conditions.
Before using Kenalog
INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all
prescription and over-the-counter medicine
that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING
OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if
you are taking prednisone (or similar
medicines). Inform your doctor of any other
medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or
breast-feeding.
Kenalog Directions
Follow the directions for using this
medicine provided by your doctor. TO USE
THIS MEDICINE: shake the container well
before using a dose. Hold the container 3 to
6 inches from the affected area and spray
lightly. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected
area unless directed otherwise by your
doctor. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room
temperature, away from extreme temperatures
and direct sunlight. Do not puncture, break,
or burn container, even if it appears empty.
IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, apply
it as soon as possible. If it is almost time
for your next dose, skip the missed dose and
go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Kenalog Cautions
IF
YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE WITHIN A FEW
DAYS, or if they become worse, check with
your doctor. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE longer
than the time prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS
MEDICINE for other skin conditions at a
later time. DO NOT GET THIS MEDICINE in your
eyes. IF THIS MEDICINE WAS PRESCRIBED TO
TREAT THE DIAPER AREA OF A CHILD, avoid
using tight-fitting diapers or plastic
pants. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING
PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the
benefits and risks of using this medicine
during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS
MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU
ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are
using this medicine, check with your doctor
or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your
baby.
Possible Kenalog side effects
When this medicine is applied, mild,
temporary stinging may occur. If it
continues or is bothersome, check with your
doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE if you experience itching, burning,
redness, or swelling. If you notice other
effects not listed above, contact your
doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
